Sean Astin at runDisney Tinker Bell Meetup

Photo by @iRunDisney. Open in new window for full size!
Sean attended the runDisney Tinker Bell Meet-up today as part of the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland. He will be running in the Neverland 5K on Saturday and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon on Sunday.

Sean talked to the attendees about his #run3rd project, now celebrating its first anniversary. ("I run first for myself, second for my wife and kids, and I #run3rd for you.") He also expressed his love of the runDisney events. "The parks and people are great," he said. "But the medals are awesome!" Sean said that he hoped to do all runDisney races from here on out.

Other celebrities at the event were runner Jeff Galloway and diet guru Tara Gidus.

Here are some of the many photos from the day:

Sean to run in Tinker Bell Half Marathon (Updated with finishers' medal)

Sean will be running in the inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon this Sunday, January 29 beginning at 5:45am. The 13.1 mile race starts and finishes at Disneyland Resort with a course through the City of Anaheim.

Sean will get this medal for finishing the half marathon.
"While the Tinker Bell Half Marathon celebrates women, it is open to everyone (ages 14 and over) and we encourage men to participate. Hundreds of men run our Disney's Princess Half Marathon each year and we anticipate the same will be the case for the Tinker Bell Half Marathon."

Possible animated film "The Riddles"

Sean Astin and fellow Turtle Rob Paulsen are both attached to an animated film project "The Riddles Show."

"It is Jimmy Neutron meets Sherlock Holmes with a steam punk
twist. Tinkersville is a steam punk style town made up of toys. Every year, Ed Tinker, toy maker and founder, unveils a new toy for the town's museum. When the toy is stolen, everyone panics to find it and calls upon the help of the Riddle family. Aside his wacky parents, Mike Riddle puts his Sherlock Holmes mind to the test to find the missing toy. Using Tinker's time machine, Mike travels back through time to find clues and discovers something dark and leads him and his friends down a path of danger and mystery. Join the Riddles as they embark on wacky adventures, get chased by badly tempered monsters, travel through time, and all on a school night. Fan-Tinker-Tastic!"

It is not determined at this time what role Sean would voice.

Hey, That's Sean Astin!

Article to go with video below.
The whispers in the crowd were true – that was Sean Astin at the Never Land Family Fun Run 5K and Tinker Bell Half Marathon at Disneyland Resort this past weekend. This was the third runDisney half marathon the star of The Goonies, Rudy and The Lord of the Rings, participated in. Last year Astin ran both the inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Disneyland Half Marathon.
Not only does Astin love runDisney events but also loves the runners that participate. He was very generous with his time at the races and at the expo for photos, autographs and entertaining the crowd. Much to my surprise he even showed up in “character” for the 5K wearing Tinker Bell wings and a sparkle skirt. Now, he may deny that fact in public, but the video below has the evidence.
As runners we run for different reasons. Astin runs for what he calls #Run3rd. What that means is he runs first for himself, second for his family and third for anyone that tweets him and asks for a special run dedication.
I think anyone having the chance to meet him last weekend will agree, Sean Astin is a great guy, loves running and loves runDisney. But judge for yourself, let him tell you in his own words.
