Sean Astin (not Rudy!) runs onto Rose Bowl Field!
Sunday morning brought light showers, moments of sunshine, and over one thousand runners to the Rose Bowl Stadium as athletes lined up to race in the 14th running of the Rose Bowl Half Marathon. This year’s course took athletes on over nine miles of trails all surrounding the Rose Bowl Stadium before leading them onto the field to finish on the 50 Yard line. …
Among the many athletes in attendance for this year’s race was actor Sean Astin. Astin, who famously starred as Rudy, ran with athletes to midfield as they experienced their own charge on to hallowed ground through the stadium tunnel as fans cheered them on to the finish line. “A lot of people want to make it to the Rose Bowl. After two hours of grinding it out in the elements, I was definitely one of them! It was a great run with a field of serious athletes. Taking pictures with runners and collecting a great looking medal were definite highlights!” Astin stayed well after finishing to pose with fans and discuss the course with his fellow competitors.Source

Sean Astin at Rose Bowl Half Marathon
Hey, That's Sean Astin!
Article to go with video below.
The whispers in the crowd were true – that was Sean Astin at the Never Land Family Fun Run 5K and Tinker Bell Half Marathon at Disneyland Resort this past weekend. This was the third runDisney half marathon the star of The Goonies, Rudy and The Lord of the Rings, participated in. Last year Astin ran both the inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Disneyland Half Marathon.
Not only does Astin love runDisney events but also loves the runners that participate. He was very generous with his time at the races and at the expo for photos, autographs and entertaining the crowd. Much to my surprise he even showed up in “character” for the 5K wearing Tinker Bell wings and a sparkle skirt. Now, he may deny that fact in public, but the video below has the evidence.
As runners we run for different reasons. Astin runs for what he calls #Run3rd. What that means is he runs first for himself, second for his family and third for anyone that tweets him and asks for a special run dedication.
I think anyone having the chance to meet him last weekend will agree, Sean Astin is a great guy, loves running and loves runDisney. But judge for yourself, let him tell you in his own words.

Independent production company Vanishing Angle is set to produce its first feature film "The Call," a dramedy that will mark the feature directorial debut of Upright Citizens Brigade and Funny or Die alum Scott Rodgers, who wrote the script with co-star Kat Foster.
In addition to Rogers and Foster, ensemble cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt, Sean Astin, Thomas Sadoski ("The Newsroom"), Timm Sharp ("Enlightened"), Pablo Schreiber ("Orange Is the New Black"), Riki Lindhome ("Hell Baby") and Paul F. Tompkins ("Best Week Ever").
Foster stars as an actress who lands the role of a lifetime opposite an Oscar-winning playboy (Schreiber) in a risqué mini-series. Sean Astin talks about Notre Dame BCS Championship Game
It's been 20 years since "Rudy" -- the story of Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, who, despite obstacles, wanted to play football for Notre Dame -- came out in theaters. The star of the movie, Sean Astin, is often reminded about one of the best sports movies of all time. "Every day, I go out of my house and in public," he said, "someone asks me about it." With tonight being the BCS championship game between Notre Dame and Alabama, Astin talked with ESPN's senior writer Lynn Hoppes about his thoughts on Notre Dame and the game. Here's his column:
In some ways, this is my championship season also.
The movie, which is 20 years old, predicted this when Coach Ara Parseghian said the goal for the team is play for a national title. And here we are.
I love the idea of Notre Dame. The fact that the fans live, breathe, eat, sleep and die thinking about the Fighting Irish is something very contagious. You can easily connect with that feeling. The school has a shiny, golden dome, which is a beacon of hope and faith.
