Quick upcoming movie updates

The official web site for "And They're Off" is finally out of the gate (not much there besides the trailer and a list of cast & crew), and there's a new Facebook page as well.

The Witches of Oz, which features Billy Boyd and Christopher Lloyd (as the Wizard of Oz!) as well as Sean Astin, will have its first US airing on Dish Network video on demand beginning September 1. This is the 2-part miniseries, not the theatrical release.

More on "Amazing Love" (updated 9/13)

The lovely Erin Bethea will play Sean's wife in "Amazing Love." Sean's character is a youth counselor. Lucky girl and lucky Sean! ;-)

Correction 9/13: I reported in error that Ms. Bethea will be in Little Boy. It is another movie she is filming with Sean, called Amazing Love, which is scheduled to start filming around September 18. Click here for more details on this project.

Speculation!

The animated project I mentioned earlier that Sean is involved with may be Ribbit, and may also star Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Colour of Magic with Sean!) and Canadian comedian Russell Peters.

No confirmation yet, but if it's true, you heard it here first!

Upcoming movie releases

Sean will have several movies see their US release over the next few months:

• September 16: Stay Cool, limited theatrical release, available now on video on demand on Charter, Time Warner and Verizon FIOS. Sean plays Big Girl, best friend of an author returning to his high school to give the commencement speech. HD trailer here.

New projects!

Sean Astin has been a busy boy this summer. Here are some of his projects:

• Sean will be voicing Raphael in a new animated TV series version of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" for Nickelodeon. Entertainment weekly interviewed Sean about his new role. The show will premiere in Fall 2012.
